The job started as a stack of heavy oak sections and a pair of saw benches on the drive. Every post, beam and brace was marked, cut and jointed on site to suit the house, not ordered as a kit and made to fit.
Posts up, tie beams over, curved braces knocked home. A frame like this stands on its joints, so each one is cut to pull the structure tighter rather than rely on brackets and bolts.
The roof was boarded out with the fall built in, and the whole structure scribed up against the granite gable so it reads as part of the house rather than something parked next to it. Solid cover for the car, and oak that will only look better as it silvers.
