Doors hung to swing sweet

Internal doors, external doors, fire doors and window joinery across the island. Hanging a door well is a small job done properly: the frame checked for plumb, the hinges let in clean, the lock morticed square and the gap even the whole way round. Jersey salt air and damp winters are hard on external timber, so we treat sills, cills and thresholds as part of the job rather than an afterthought.

What’s included

Every door or window job, covered.

/01

Internal Doors

Hung, eased and adjusted to the opening, with hinges and latches let in flush and the gap consistent top to bottom.

/02

Fire Doors

Fire doors fitted with the correct intumescent strips, closers and gaps, so the door actually performs as rated.

/03

External Doors & Frames

New frames, thresholds and weather seals fitted to keep Jersey wind and rain on the outside where it belongs.

/04

Easing & Repairs

Sticking, dropped and binding doors sorted properly by finding what has moved, not by planing the door until it fits.

Questions

Asked and answered.

My door sticks in winter and is fine in summer. Can that be fixed?

Usually, yes, and it is one of the most common calls we get in Jersey. Timber takes up moisture in a damp winter and swells, so the fix is to ease it where it binds and then seal the edges so it stops drinking. If the frame itself has moved, we sort that instead.

Can you fit fire doors correctly?

Yes. A fire door only works as a set: the right door, the right frame, intumescent and smoke seals, the correct hinges and a controlled gap. We fit them as a complete set and will tell you honestly if what is already there cannot be brought up to standard.

Do you replace whole windows?

We handle timber window joinery, repairs, sills and reglazing, and we fit new units where a joinery replacement is the right answer. If the sensible option is a specialist glazing supplier, we will say so rather than take the job on regardless.

How long does it take to hang a door?

A straightforward internal door on an existing frame is usually well under half a day. A new frame, lining, architrave and ironmongery on an awkward old opening takes longer, and you get a realistic time with the quote.

Do you supply the doors or do we?

Either. Plenty of customers pick their own doors and we fit them. If you would rather we sourced them, we will, and you see the cost of the doors separately from the labour.
